Dear Nicole, dear Luis, Jan. 17th 2015 my wife and I saw your performance “Vida” in the Colloseum in Essen, Germany. We do not understand spanish but I would agree that there could not have been a better motto for the show you both created! Such an inspiration! Such vivid expression of life… so much understanding of what’s life’s about… beyond words… so very touching! That music… your dancing… it didn’t need any translation. I sincerely want to say thank you for a very special evening. My wife and I take tango courses in Mülheim / Ruhr for round about half a year… we both are infected… though I dare to say the level of teaching is “basic”. What has struck me most seeing your show, was the impression that tango is not just “a said thought being danced” (as we were taught) … but pure life (!) including joy (!!), grief and any other emotion a living being can perceive. This is why I so much want to give you feedback… you tidied up with some stereotypes – and I appreciate you to do so!! Apart from telling you how fabulous you and your ensemble performed… there are some points I’d like to tell/ask you about. – The light show included spotlights on the floor. I suppose they were ment to emphasise your performance… but to my opinion they were just blinding. If you ask me … just skip’em ;O) – At the end of the show / in the “Zugabe”… Luis held a speech “Yo soy il tango” (please have mercy on my spelling) … I’d love to know what he said. Sorry I don’t understand spanish but my rudimentary Italian tells me that he had a message I’d love to understand! – Unfortunately there was no merchandising after your show. My wife an me would have loved to purchase a DVD or at least a CD of your show. The music was… as well… excellent (!!!). There was especially that very touching duo of guitar and bandoneon (“Oblivion”?) I never heard anything like that!! I’d love to dance to it. Please do think about offering some media at www.tangofolklore.com or where ever I might find it. Yours Rainer – Mülheim an der Ruhr (Germany)
